## Do I need a permit?

A home elevator, vertical platform lift or stairlift may need approval from a state or city conveyance authority as well as building and electrical permits. Identify the actual equipment category before purchasing.

Confirm the answer for your property and exact scope with the building and zoning offices. A product size or a contractor's opinion alone does not establish an exemption.

### The inspection authority may differ from the building office

Washington L&I provides conveyance inspection records for its jurisdiction, while Seattle and Spokane conduct their own inspections.
