Your working checklist

Project permit planner

Turn a project guide into a checklist you can work through with your local permit office. Keep track of requirements to confirm, documents to gather, and inspections to plan.

This is a planning aid, not a permit determination or approval. Requirements depend on your location and scope. Ticks show tasks you have checked off; they do not establish that work is allowed or an inspection has passed.

Switching projects keeps this page's progress for each project. Find a local guide or prepare for a call to the permit office.

Saving is optional and separate from Analytics. Only project choices and checked steps are saved on this device. Nothing you check is sent to us. Leave saving off on a shared device; no name, address, contact details, or files are needed.

Read the project guide
1. Confirm local requirements

Check these with the office that has jurisdiction over the property. A completed checklist is not an approval.

2. Prepare the required documents

Ask which items your office requires, then mark each step after preparing the item or confirming it is not needed.

3. Plan inspections and final records

These are planning tasks. Scheduling or checking an item here does not mean an inspection has passed.

Put the checklist to work

  1. Choose the project closest to your scope. Ask the local office about anything this checklist does not cover.
  2. Check a task after confirming the requirement or taking the planning step described. Keep actual approvals and inspection records separately.
  3. Print or download the selected project's checklist for your next call. The text download marks completed and remaining tasks.

If you enable saving, progress stays in this browser until you turn saving off, clear all planner progress, or clear this site's browser data. Saving does not transfer a checklist to another browser or device.
